7 Tips to Get Through the Holidays

7 Tips to Get Through the Holidays

The holidays should be about spending quality time with friends and family, not feeling worn out! With all the treats and changes in routine, it’s easy to feel off our game during this time. But not this year! I’ve got seven simple tips to help you look and feel your best throughout the holiday season, featured in my new video.

I organized these tips with the idea that you might be feeling a bit rough after last night’s holiday bash. But don’t worry—if you’re gearing up for another party tonight, these hacks will be super helpful too. Prevention is key to avoiding any health issues.

Feeling a bit shaky this morning? Watch the video, and you’ll soon be on your way to feeling better!

1. Alternate cold and hot showers
2. Sip on lemon water
I’ve mentioned this in my blog and both my cookbooks, “Joyous Health” and “Joyous Detox.” Drinking lemon water is a fantastic way to cleanse, detoxify, and start your day brightly!

3. Get moving
Incorporate some movement into your day! Even just 10 minutes of brisk walking can boost your mood, regulate your appetite, and improve your sleep by enhancing brain chemicals like serotonin.

4. Focus on nutrition
Make at least one meal as nourishing and healthy as possible. Here are some breakfast ideas:
– Golden Smoothie
– McJordan Family Smoothie
– Broccoli Sweet Potato Feta Frittata
– Egg-Free Banana French Toast

5. Choose foods that stabilize your blood sugar
Go for foods with good fats, fiber, and protein to satisfy hunger and balance blood sugar. If you’re craving sweets or carbs intensely, or experiencing energy spikes and crashes, your blood sugar might be off balance.

6. Indulge Smartly
Don’t deprive yourself—it often backfires. Enjoy your treats wisely, like my Great Aunt Lily’s figgy pudding, which holds a special place at our Christmas table.

7. Hydrate
Balance water with alcohol. For each alcoholic drink, have a glass of water to help ward off hangovers.
