Our skin, being the largest and most visible organ, reflects our internal health. The food we eat and the drinks we consume become a part of us, and our skin renews itself roughly every 28 days. This means the person you are today is different from who you were last month—quite fascinating, isn’t it?
With this in mind, it makes sense to consider your diet before relying on hydrocortisone creams, antibiotics, or Accutane for skin issues. While dermatologists are essential, encouraging patients to focus on nutrition could lead to fewer visits and happier, glowing skin.
Personally, I struggled with dermatology solutions. As a teenager, I suffered from painful eczema on my hands, which prescription creams couldn’t heal. However, once I learned about the healing power of food and supplements—like omega-3s in smoothies, vitamin D drops, and probiotics—my eczema vanished. Over the years, I also dealt with “dermatitis” under my nose. Despite daily use of prescribed hydrocortisone, it worsened. My dermatologist couldn’t pinpoint a cause and simply renewed my prescriptions. Eventually, I managed the redness by adopting an anti-inflammatory diet and cutting out my morning cereal with cow’s milk. Though my skin improved, I still live with the unwanted effects of those creams.
If you’re seeking clearer skin, remember that embracing dietary changes can make a positive impact.
Best,
Joy

Hi Joy,
Great post! Probiotics and Omega 3 are indeed wonderful for enhancing skin health. Could you share which brand of Probiotics you use from your video? Thank you!

Joy,
Thank you for sharing! I didn’t know you also dealt with eczema. I experienced a similar outbreak last October and knew I needed a healthier lifestyle. Your tips have motivated me to stay on this path. XOXO

Great post! What vitamin D drops do you recommend?
—
I like AOR, but there are many good brands available.
—
Yes, I’ve dealt with this for years.
Regarding cow’s milk, if dairy isn’t an issue for you and it’s consumed occasionally, kefir could be beneficial due to its probiotic content. However, if it causes discomfort, a detox might be beneficial.
—
Would you recommend these dietary tips for teens with acne? And why choose vitamin D drops?
Thanks!

Hi Joy,
Do probiotics work for psoriasis too? Which brand would you recommend?
—
Good post! I have more suggestions, but I’ll wait for “part 2.”
—
While I do occasionally use minimal cortisone, studies suggest vitamin D can help reduce the inflammation linked to acne.
—
Yes, my favorite probiotic brand is HMF Forte by Genestra. However, there are many excellent options.

Hi Joy,
After watching your supplement video, should probiotics be taken on an empty stomach, or with a meal? I also noticed you stopped eating All-Bran Flakes with cow’s milk. Is there an issue with All-Bran itself? My kids have cereal and milk, and I’d love an alternative. Goat’s milk or a pure almond milk might work—any recommendations?
Thank you! By the way, your site has been truly inspirational!

Does yogurt contain probiotics, or do they need to be in pill form?
—
Excellent point about eliminating dairy—it’s one of the first changes I suggest. Omega-3 and probiotics are great reminders too!

Hi Joy,
I’d love your input on a few products I use that are pharmaceutical-grade, vegan, gluten-free, sustainably sourced, and very effective. Could I send information to your email?

Hey Joy,
What kind of milk do you use? I like soy and hemp milk. Thoughts?

Hi, I recently introduced my mom to a cream for psoriasis as an alternative to steroid creams. While topical solutions don’t address root causes, Clineral by Teva uses Dead Sea minerals and has impressed me. Would you be interested in samples? They might send them from Israel.
—
I’ll definitely check them out, Melissa. Thanks for sharing! The Dead Sea’s alkalinizing minerals could indeed benefit conditions like psoriasis. Chronic dehydration is often a factor, so increasing water intake and considering a heavy metal detox could also be helpful.

If you love dairy (milk in coffee, specifically), what alternatives do you suggest?
—
Hi Joy,
What’s a suitable vitamin D dosage for acne? Omegas, even high-quality ones, cause cystic acne for me. Any ideas why or alternatives?
Hi Bryn,
We can’t provide specific doses without a full history, so please follow package instructions and consult a healthcare provider for personalized advice. Regarding omega-3s, do you react to fish, or have you tried plant-based options?

I used to struggle with eczema, but after a week with Foderma Serum, it cleared up. It’s effective and more affordable than prescription options. Some find the smell off-putting, but I like it. I’m very satisfied.

I’m glad that worked for you, Naomi! We’re not familiar with the product but make sure it’s clean and free from harmful ingredients.
