Sugar Volumizing Hair Spray

Sugar Volumizing Hair Spray

If there’s ever a time to use sugar in a recipe, this is it! But don’t worry; you won’t be eating it…

Since switching to natural products, I’ve struggled to find styling solutions for my straight, lifeless hair. Many natural products on the market contain heavy oils, like coconut oil, which leave my hair looking greasy. Hair spray often fails to give me the volume I want. So, what’s the solution?

Try a sugar spray!

When applied before blow-drying, sugar spray can add impressive volume and bounce, and when used after styling, it offers great hold. The key to making sugar spray is combining other ingredients to counteract the stickiness and create a manageable hold. As you’ll see in the recipe below, I’ve included a light oil and aloe to help with this. I must admit, you’ll definitely feel this product in your hair, but by adjusting the proportions of oil and aloe, you can achieve the texture you prefer.

For styling: Spray on the roots of damp hair, then blow-dry and style.

For hold: Lightly spray on dry hair for a flexible hold or apply generously for a firm hold.
