If you’re as passionate about chocolate as I am, you’re in the right place. Elevate your chocolate experience with this superfood-infused bark made from pumpkin seeds, hemp hearts, and goji berries (or cranberries). It’s not just delicious—it’s also loaded with nutrients and energizing, but be warned, it might just become your new favorite treat!
This Superfood Chocolate Bark skips the refined sugars and chemical additives often found in processed chocolate. Instead, it features only pure, wholesome ingredients:
Hemp Hearts: A great source of complete plant-based protein and healthy fats, including omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. They’re rich in minerals like magnesium, phosphorus, iron, and zinc, making them a must-have kitchen staple.
Pumpkin Seeds: Packed with protein, vitamin E, zinc, and iron, these seeds also provide a satisfying crunch and healthy fats. If you’re out of pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds make a great alternative.
Goji Berries: Bursting with fiber, iron, and vitamins A and C, these berries add a delightful sweet and sour note to the bark. If goji berries aren’t available, cranberries or raisins work well too.
A heads-up: The raw cacao powder in this recipe contains brain-stimulating compounds like theobromine—it’s best to enjoy this treat earlier in the day, as it could keep you awake at night. Think of it as similar to coffee if you’re sensitive to caffeine.
I hope you enjoy making and eating this as much as I do. Have a fantastic weekend!
Looks amazing!
Thanks, Louise! I hope you love it.

Perfect timing! I’m off to Spain to visit my daughter, new grandson, and family. This bark sounds like a great morning snack for the flight. I prefer bringing my own snacks rather than requesting a special diet.
I should make these right now! Tonight instead.
Hi Deb! Bringing your own snacks on a plane is always wise. There’s nothing worse than being stuck with airplane food you don’t like! Enjoy your trip and the bark.

These look fantastic! Can’t wait to try them. Question: What if my coconut oil has melted?
Why isn’t this detox-friendly?
Hi Emily! It depends on the detox program you’re following.

This reminds me of your chocolate bark recipe, which I love. I can’t wait to try this version—it seems perfect for a Christmas morning treat with its red and green colors!
I made this late last night after getting home from the theater. It seemed like the perfect Valentine’s Day treat. Thank you!
I’m eager to make this! Do you recommend soaking the goji berries first to rehydrate them?
Hi Gillian, you’re going to love this! There’s no need to rehydrate them.

Question: I used cocoa powder instead of cacao to make this as a dessert, but it ended up lumpy. I had to add more oil. Any advice for this substitution?
I haven’t tried it with cocoa powder, but the lumps might be from the temperature being too high. Did adding more coconut oil help? Using a wire whisk can also prevent lumpiness.
Absolutely delicious! I made this last night and paired it with some coffee at the office this morning. Thank you so much for sharing! I plan to make the Chocolate Beet Smoothie Bowl this weekend!
Yay! Happy to hear you enjoyed it. Let us know how the smoothie bowl turns out, Melissa!

Looks delicious – should you keep it frozen after it sets, or is refrigeration okay?
Should I use refined or unrefined coconut oil? I’m curious about the taste difference.
I always use unrefined coconut oil for its delightful flavor. Using refined coconut oil won’t drastically change the recipe, though.
Thank you!
I’m excited to try this recipe. It should be fine in the fridge, but it will be softer than if kept in the freezer.
Can’t wait to try this recipe! What’s the difference between cacao powder and cocoa? Also, in Greece, my family often enjoys a cacao beverage as part of breakfast. Is this a healthier option than cocoa powder?
Raw cacao is less processed than cocoa powder. I have more details in this post: https://www.joyoushealth.com/16583-blog-health-benefits-of-raw-cacao-vs-cocoa-powder. That drink sounds delicious, too! Check out my spicy hot chocolate recipe: https://www.joyoushealth.com/22861-blog-spicy-hot-chocolate-with-creamy-hemp-milk.
I need to make breakfast chocolate with cocoa powder. Will that work?
Cocoa powder will also work fine. Enjoy!
I’m not a fan of coconut oil—what’s a good substitute?
Is it the flavor you don’t like? You might try deodorized coconut oil.
Thanks for the tip—I’ve never heard of deodorized coconut oil. I’ll definitely give it a shot.
No problem! You can find it at your local health food store.
