Hello, Happy Readers,
I’m excited to share a new video on facial products that I love, inspired by the popularity of my “What’s in My Makeup Bag” video and the many questions you’ve asked about beauty products. This time, the focus is on items that are completely free from toxins. While some might contain mild chemicals, they are entirely harmless. These products truly nourish your skin without harsh chemicals or toxins.
When I refer to “endocrine disruption,” I’m talking about the hundreds of chemicals that can interfere with our hormonal system. The endocrine system involves various glands, like the thyroid and adrenals, which regulate functions such as reproduction, sexual health, sleep, mood, and metabolism. You can learn about 12 hormone-altering chemicals that appear in products, not just in personal care.
Here’s the video, along with links to all the products below:

I want you to feel informed when choosing products for your face. After watching, you might want to visit a valuable resource from the Environmental Working Group called SKIN DEEP. There, you can enter any product in the search area and receive a rating from 1 to 10, with 10 indicating high toxicity and potential health issues, while 1 is considered safe. Personally, I avoid anything rated above 3 or 4, and the products I use generally score a 0 or 1. You might notice that many popular sunscreens are at the top of the “very toxic” list.
If you spend a lot of time in the sun or have children, I strongly recommend reading the three posts on sunscreen at Joyous Health. You’ll find many safe and affordable sunscreen brands. Green Beaver offers a kid-friendly sunblock that I highly recommend.
The products I mention in my video are listed below:
Keep in mind that I’m not an esthetician, so speaking with a professional about your skin needs is crucial. I recommend these products because they work well for me and are clean, but you might find other options within each brand that suit your skin better—my skin, for instance, tends to dryness. However, heavy products have made me break out in the past.
I don’t have any financial connections with these brands and earn no commission from these recommendations.
We’ve covered facial options, but what about natural body beauty products? Check out all the Joyous Natural Beauty Essentials, from Smooth Like Body Butta to Natural Deodorant—these are completely clean and toxin-free.

I hope you enjoy my video! Please keep the questions coming, as they inspire videos like these.
Have a joyous day!

Hi Joy,
Lovely video! I was wondering if you know of any Australian skincare brands I should explore? I’ve heard that natural ingredients should ideally be sourced locally due to their shorter shelf lives. If you don’t know any, could you recommend holistic nutritionists in Australia who might help?
Thanks,
Clare

Hi Clare,
I’ve tried a few Sukin products that I really liked. That’s the only Australian-based brand I’m familiar with.

Hi Clare,
Not Australian, but from New Zealand—I’ve heard great things about Antipodes. A friend who moved to NZ loves it.
Clean beauty is definitely the way to go!
And great picks, Joy! We love Graydon! I use Eminence Organics Strawberry Rhubarb Hyaluronic Serum all the time; it’s one of my favorites and has improved my skin tone.

Hi Diane,
You’re right about being cautious with skincare during pregnancy. Tea tree oil can be a good spot treatment. Some reports say it might slow contractions, but if you’re not close to your due date and don’t ingest it, it should be fine. As for facial treatments, try this homemade Turmeric Honey Paste—it works wonders for acne-prone skin. Eminence Organics also offers a cleanser for acne-prone skin, so check out their website. I also did a video with Seanna, a skincare expert who suffered from acne, featuring a homemade cleanser.
Hope that helps!

Hi Caroline,
It might be best to consult a holistic esthetician or staff at a store specializing in holistic beauty products for advice suited to your skin. We’re not big fans of Arbonne at Joyous Health, as their products aren’t as clean as they claim.

Hi Bronwyn,
I’m afraid we haven’t heard of Environ.

Hi, I was wondering if these products are safe for pregnant women? I bought the Consonant moisturizer but am hesitant to use it. Currently, I’m 21 weeks pregnant, and my skin is very dry.

Hey, I wanted to know if Penny Lane Organics Calendula Sensitive is recommended for sensitive, blemish-prone skin?
Hi Mina, I would check with them for recommendations.

Hi Manuela,
You can find Eminence products online at Beauty Sense or high-end salons. Hope that helps!

Hi Michele,
If you have gluten intolerance, it might be best to avoid the Eminence Strawberry Rhubarb Hyaluronic Serum due to the hydrolyzed wheat protein.
It’s wiser to avoid if it’s an allergy or sensitivity, but with some intolerances, since the proteins don’t pass through the digestive system, you might be okay.

Hi Karyn,
Glad you love Penny Lane Organics Cleansing Milk. Have you noticed any changes?

Hi Karyn,
You mentioned a big difference in redness after using Penny Lane Organics Cleansing Milk. If you experience post-wash redness, this might be a product worth trying. With Canadian winter coming, I’m looking forward to the Penny Lane Organics Sensitive Skin Serum.
Thanks for sharing!

Are you still using any of these products in 2019?
I regularly use my body butter and deodorant. For facial care, I mainly use Hydrextreme from Consonant right now. My preferred products change with the seasons, but they’re always clean.
