Uncertain About Fluoride? Discover 10 Essential Facts.

I’ve had numerous conversations about fluoride, both with clients and during workshops I’ve led. It surprises me how many people don’t have a complete understanding and feel quite confused about the topic. Growing up, many were taught that fluoride is beneficial for their health, which they accepted as fact. But what if that’s not entirely accurate?

As you might expect, I’m not an advocate for adding fluoride to Toronto’s water—I prefer my water pure and free from any harmful substances. If you’re uncertain about fluoride, I recommend watching this insightful video titled “10 Facts about Fluoride.” It may prompt you to reconsider accepting fluoride treatments at the dentist for yourself or your children.

Unfortunately, the video is currently unavailable, but I’ve summarized some key points below:

1. Fluoridated countries do NOT have less tooth decay. The World Health Organization reports no clear differences in tooth decay between countries that add fluoride to water and those that don’t.

2. In Europe, 97% of the population does not receive fluoridated water.

3. Most developed countries do not practice water fluoridation.

4. The safety of fluoride is not well-researched, and it can impact your bones, brain, thyroid gland, pineal gland, and blood sugar levels.

5. 40% of American teens exhibit signs of fluoride over-exposure.

6. Have you noticed the “do not swallow” warning on toothpaste tubes? That’s due to fluoride.

Please consider sharing these facts with others who have fluoridated water. You can also download a helpful PDF on the “10 Facts about Fluoride.”

If you live in a city where the water is fluoridated, consider getting a reverse osmosis filter or distilled water system. If that’s not an option, focus on eating a diet rich in minerals—especially plant-based foods like sea vegetables (dulse, arame, nori), which are high in iodine and support thyroid health among other benefits.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this topic!

Thank you for the informative post! Thanks for this insight. Do you know if the water in British Columbia has fluoride? Would fluoride’s effects be visible in a thyroid test or exam? I’ve had my T3 and T4 levels tested along with an ultrasound—should these tests show any fluoride impact?

Vancouver’s water isn’t fluoridated.

Regarding the fluoride controversy, often considered a “toxic poison,” you might want to watch this video for compelling arguments. You may find yourself reconsidering its importance after viewing.

What about its effects on children? I’m convinced it’s not great for me, but do children require fluoride for dental development? I’ve heard concerns about increased tooth decay due to low fluoride levels, and I’m unsure what to believe. What are your plans for your daughter? I just want the best for her.
