Ways to Foster Positivity Immediately

Ways to Foster Positivity Immediately

We’re living in some really unusual times right now. I’m trying my best to stay calm and keep in mind what my grandmother always used to say: “This too shall pass.” I make a point to give Vienna plenty of extra hugs. At just four years old, she doesn’t fully comprehend what’s going on, despite our efforts to explain. She’s missing her teachers and friends quite a bit.

But we’re all in this together. There’s so much we can do to foster a positive outlook, which is why I felt compelled to share this video. Human nature tends to focus on the negative, and while this can help us assess situations and make wise choices, it doesn’t serve us well when we view our current or future circumstances as entirely bleak. Trust me, I’ve been there, too.

I worry about how Walker and I will juggle our priorities, like parenting and running our business. If schools remain closed past April, teaching Vienna will be added to the list. But I know my worries aren’t unique—I’m sure you have your own. That’s why I’m really focusing on staying positive, even though it takes effort.

I wanted to share what Walker and I are doing each day to foster positivity because it’s crucial right now. Here’s my video:

Joy

Thanks for all the uplifting reminders during these challenging times. My grandparents lived through the 1918 pandemic, managing by cooking, knitting, and helping others. It was a different era, but they faced it as a community with limited resources. We can do this too—let’s stay positive.

Pat

Thank you so much! It’s lovely to see you and your family enjoying the outdoors.

Good morning Joy,

Thank you for bringing so much joy into my life this morning. I’m grateful to have found someone as cheerful as you to share your joyful thoughts and knowledge. I’m also focusing on staying positive each day, and I find the breathing exercises incredibly helpful. Being in nature and eating well are essentials for me. Approaching 60, I’m doing what I can to stay healthy!

I’m very grateful to have someone as compassionate and lovely as you to follow every day. Hugs.

Just what I needed! Thank you, Dr. Joy and Dr. Walker, you guys are amazing!

Hey Joy, I was listening to your podcast about overcoming anxiety when public speaking, and you mentioned meditation. I’d love to hear more about how you started and what it looks like for you. We all know the benefits, but it can seem difficult and mysterious.

Hi Jennifer! You’re not the first to ask about this, so I’ll definitely do a post or video on how I got started. It’s funny because now I can’t imagine a day without meditation. Thanks for asking—it’s given me the push to share this.
